Mariner Insurance Solutions was created to provide an internal resource to support our clients’ and advisors’ insurance needs. With roughly half of all women and more than half of all men in the United States having life insurance and risk management needs related to wealth, we provide a consultative team that can help.

From complex estate planning insurance needs to basic income replacement strategies, the insurance team at Mariner Wealth Advisors can help you create a plan and execute it, generating another positive touch point with your client while alleviating a major concern for them. The team is led by Ed Simms and Jerry Clark, who are licensed in all 50 states and have 60 years of combined experience.

How the insurance team supports you

  • Insurance and annuity review/analysis: This is our wheelhouse, we consult with advisor clients as if they’re our own. We ask questions such as, “I know why I bought this insurance product, but why do I still own this?” Or, “Does insurance make sense for my long-term care plans?” We can help identify which solution is best for the client.
  • Execution/implementation: Once the client has determined how they want to proceed, the next step is implementing the plan, which means executing on the insurance policies. We partner with all non-captive carriers and search for best execution and value for our clients.
  • Support and ongoing maintenance: Ongoing monitoring of the products, including communication that needs to go to the client regarding those products, will be handled by our internal insurance team, removing the burden from advisors and clients.

The ideal client for the insurance team are those who need the following:

  • Income protection: Helps protect assets and income in many circumstances.
  • Long-term care: Baby boomers are aging, and long-term care solutions are valuable. Insurance products can have a proper place in helping clients feel more secure that their needs will be taken care of while protecting assets for their heirs.
  • Legacy planning: Assist with the most tax-efficient transfer of a client’s estate to the next generation.
  • Life insurance contract settlements: Clients seeking the most value for life insurance contracts they no longer need.

When to engage with us and what to expect

Engage with us early in your client relationships. We can add a great deal of value when we have an opportunity to identify issues as soon as possible.
